About the Event

The Brunswick county NAACP Branch has a deep impact in our communities, because of the commitment of our compassionate sponsors. Annually, we hold a Freedom Fund Banquet. This is the major fundraising event for our

organization. Your contributions and donations enable us to carry on the business of the BC-NAACP, providing outreach and activities for the under privileged individuals in cur community.

This year's banquet theme is 'To lmprove And Empower The Lives Of People We Serve." This theme is commensurate with what the Brunswick County NAACP Branch was organized to perform since its inception on August 15, 1963,

in Southport, NC. The banquet will be held Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 4:00pm, 101 Stone Chimney Road, supply, NC. Please come support and hear a powerhouse message.

Ticket donation: $50.00 per person in advance or $65.OO at the door. There are several ways you can support this endeavor. Enclosed is an attachment of the types of advertisement layouts for you to choose from in our Freedom Fund Booklet. Donors, such as you, make an invaluable difference in shaping the future of our county and country. We are counting on you!

Social distancing is a reguirement due to COVID 19 concerns. We are also asking everyone to wear a mask. Taking temperatures using a contactless thermometers may be a requirement upon entry. We look forward to seeing you all in attendance.

About our keynote speaker:

Dr. Ericka Jones Whitaker assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer in 2014 for Southeastern Community Action Partnership, Inc. (SCAP), one of the largest Community Action Agencies in North Carolina. Whitaker oversees an approximate annual budget of $26 million and has oversight of nearly 250 employees including: the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operations Officer, 3 Program Directors, and Executive Administrator. In addition to her CEO role, Dr. Whitaker is the President/CEO of her own consulting firm, The Whitaker Management Group, which offers a variety of strategic leadership and management services to organizations. She is also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of North Carolina Pembroke School of Business. 

Whitaker is the recipient of the Roselle Copeland Stewardship Award for her work specifically in Community Action during two major natural disasters and has also received other leadership awards for her servitude in various communities. 

Dr. Whitaker serves on the Board of Directors for two prestigious organizations: CAPLAW which provides legal and financial resources to Community Action Agencies nationally and the North Carolina Community Action Association. Whitaker holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership and Administration from Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, NC; a Master of Science in Administration (MSA) with a focus in Nonprofit Management from Trinity Washington University in Washington, DC; arrd a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Business Communicalisns frsm The University of Maryland Global Campus in College Park, MD. 

Dr. Whitaker has lived in 8 states and also Europe, but she is proud to call North Carolina her home. Dr. is Whitaker is married to her husband Dexter of 10 years and believes that with all the "hats" she wears professionally nothing takes precedence over her most important role as a mother to their beautiful daughter, Kennedy.
